The 160 acre provincial park rests on the western shore of the 1,000 acre Bass Lake, 7 km west of downtown Orillia. Bass Lake offers Trailer, Car camping, day use, picnic shelters and roofed accommodations. There is a short 2.8 km hiking trail and you can rent canoe's, kayaks and paddle boat rentals. There is a large sandy beach, that sadly we weren't able to take advantage of.
Upon arrival we were surprised by the size of the park, it was much larger than we were expecting, and pleasantly surprised by our campsite. The weather was beautiful and sunny, but incredibly windy the whole weekend. So much so that we were barely able to spend any time on the water.
As you can see the site has lots of space, and we brought our boy Yuka along for the trip. He was really more interested in the squirrels up that tree!

The walking trails are wide and well worn, there was a few sections that had a lot of poison ivy, but lots of other wildflowers to enjoy too!

This would be a great park with smaller kids, the playground looked amazing. As for the beach, we should have taken advantage right at this moment as the rest of the weekend it was chilly and windy.

Our son was able to get out in his Kayak tonight it was a beautiful sunset! There was another couple enjoying the view on the dock, but other than that I was surprised there was no one else around to witness this beauty.

While we weren't overly enthralled with the park itself, there is lots of beautiful trails in the area and other things to do. I think we would go back and check those out next time for sure!
