Destination Ontario Writes "A forested oasis in the Kawartha Lakes community, Balsam Lake Provincial Park offers outdoor recreation seekers the ideal escape. Set on the northern shore of Balsam Lake across the way from Indian Point, you can catch views across the water to Grand Island. The park provides numerous outdoor sports opportunities, including popular water activities like kayaking, canoeing, boating and fishing."
We picked a beautiful site! It's always a challenge when visiting a new park, you only have the online photos to go on. But this site was huge, with a trail right across that cuts down to the beach. The only downfall was the slope where the trailer gets parked, it was terrible!

Being a hot August day the beach was as busy as you would expect it to be. There was lots of people trying out new water sports too, it was fun to watch the successes (and failures!). The swimming is nice sand bottom and the water was beautiful!

Due to an injury, my friend J couldn't do any walking or other activities. So we hung out at the campsite for most of the weekend, just relaxing, talking and enjoying our time there.
We spoiled ourselves with fresh pickerel, eggs, bacon and toast for breakfast!

A beautiful night sky was enjoyed from our zero gravity chairs.

I would love to leave my overall impression of this campground, but I don't know if I can give it a fair "review". Given that we didn't really do anything the park has to offer but stay at our campsite I would have to come back another time to really check it out.
It think it would be a great place to introduce kids to camping, great beach and swimming.
